H264 audio: warning if audio track fails?

Given that H264 audio streaming is enabled/desired, would we need to inform the user if the audio stream fails? Because it might be hard to distinguish whether a lack of sound output comes from a broken stream or from just silence.

I was thinking along the lines of rendering a warning icon in the status bar or so.
