Compatibility with OnePlus 6T (LineageOS 22.2) and hardware keystore

Hi, First of all, thank you for this very useful tool.

I would like to know if apbf is compatible with the OnePlus 6T running Android 15 (LineageOS). I came across some posts mentioning that certain devices using a hardware-backed keystore (like Qualcomm’s TEE) may prevent TWRP from accessing the necessary keys to decrypt /data, even if the correct PIN or pattern is entered.

Since the OnePlus 6T uses a Snapdragon 845, I suspect this might be the case.

Also, I am using a temporary TWRP image booted via fastboot boot /path/to/twrp.img, as I wasn’t able to permanently install TWRP on the device.

Is apbf still effective in such a setup, or would the hardware keystore block decryption regardless of the code entered?

Thanks in advance for your help !

Probably not.

But I'm not familiar with such setup. So the only thing I can recommend is to test it out and see if it works.

Thanks for the reply @timvisee

Just to add: I've lost my PIN code (4 to 5 digits long), and I’m willing to spend an unreasonable amount of time brute-forcing it if the method is likely to succeed.

Also, could you share which devices you’ve tested apbf on? That might help me figure out whether the OnePlus 6T behaves similarly.

Thanks !

I believe I used it on a OnePlus 5. But it is more than 6 years ago, thus I'm not entirely sure anymore.
