Amazon-branded items are taxed on the wrong year

According to https://www.amazon.com/gp/vine/faq#tax, under the question, "When is a product calculated towards my total for a tax reporting year?", Amazon-branded products are taxes on the calendar year, not six months after the current date. So any Amazon-branded products order between July and December of year X should be taxed to year X, not year X+1.

Unfortunately, it might be very difficult to determine whether a product is Amazon-branded or not.
