I have no idea. I usually use the daily build which has always worked for me on both windows and Mac.
I believe this is in Copter and Plane as of 4.6 based on https://github.com/ArduPilot/ardupilot/pull/28574, so maybe should go into the Wiki now-ish rather than waiting for 4.7?
