Editable Prefix

Would it be possible to add an option to make the -- prefix editable?

Currently, this is conflicting with a plugin I have which replaces the -- with an em-dash.

The workaround for this is let it emdash and then press backspace. But yes, choosing our own code might be helpful. Thank you for all the hard work.
