[N163] 8ch polyphony mode playback is broken

Open freq-mod opened this issue 1 year ago • 3 comments

test.zip - module showcases the problem - at first, no sound is audible, then, when 7th and 8th channel kicks in, it gets very noisy... (too noisy, I may say)

EDIT: is it related to "Waveform pos." macro not being empty? N163 documentation isn't too great...

Very likely so... The documentation isn't great because when N163 was added to Furnace, it turned out to be overcomplicated...

I think it rather nneds "needs an analysis" flag rather than "bug" but k...

I will try to write a better doc for N163 on Sunday.

The analysis is already there though. Furnace lets you write to wave memory even if it overlaps with the few last bytes which are reserved for channel state.

Seems like you are treating the note state as a wave, causing a funky sound, almost like a distorted electric guitar. I imagine that's also the case in real hardware, though, so i'm not sure what the problem is...
