Reporting site (data) issues

Open cookieguru opened this issue 3 years ago • 8 comments

There's a company that decided to spam Papercall with a multi-year ongoing event with no description and a CFP far in the future. My previous attempts at contacting the owners of Papercall have gone nowhere, so I'm not bothering with this one.

Since Papercall's data is imported and automatically trusted this same company ends up spamming Symposium too. Nowehere on the site is there anywhere to contact anyone in charge or alert of inappropriate behavior

Thanks @cookieguru , some type of reporting feature would be useful. Adding some validation to ensure the CFP ends before the event starts would also help guard against this.

@andrewmile Can you delete that conference if you haven't already? Thanks!

There were five conferences that fell within these parameters who's URLs looked suspicious so I marked them all as is_approved = 0.

@andrewmile The conference that prompted me to open this issue is, shall we say, still quite visible on the calendar

@cookieguru Looks like we're not filtering out unapproved events on the calendar page. I'm going to work on updating that.

@cookieguru We are now filtering out unapproved events from the calendar page and I have removed the conferences that were obvious spam so the calendar should be looking more useful now.

I'm still leaving this issue open until we have some way for users to report spam.
