Great tool but Facebook images are washed out on phones but fine on computers. Any way to fix this issue?
I've been using this to upload 3D drone photos to Facebook and I love it. Thank you for the tool! Unfortunately, the 3D Facebook photos appear washed out when viewing them on both of my Galaxy phones. This is with both the Facebook app and Chrome browser via phone. On my Windows 11 computer, they look great in both Chrome and Edge. I've been creating the depth map with the res101 model, using the defaults. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a workaround? Thanks.
An example is here in case the image doesn't post. PC on the left, phone on the right. https://photos.app.goo.gl/x4g41rxNqdummuNp8
I also tried https://github.com/Extraltodeus/depthmap2mask with a different model and have the same results.
I had something different typed up and was going to ask you for the original, along with settings or config you used, but now I'm guessing that is unrelated.
I'm curious to look into this as it may impact a separate, but related to this one, project I'm working on. In short, it is an opinionated open source AI-powered toolkit for converting 2D media into immersive VR using local hardware called AutoVRai.
I'm planning on releasing the first version later this week, but registered that name on here and on most of the major social media things. Can you reach out directly somewhere (pick your fav platform, even created a discord if you wanted an invite) with a way I can go test your issue directly on my devices? Is it just a public Facebook post?
I have a hunch it might be the coming from some sort of filter Facebook is applying when viewing from some types of devices, not necessarily on purpose. That "filter" might be just a weird unintended image manipulation by the tool they are using to render it in their webpage/app. I've been rather shocked to find out how half-assed most of the VRish web based rendering solutuons seem to feel. That said, I'm curious to dig in and see exactly what Facebook is using, haven't looked at theirs yet. My guess is that because your phones support going into VR mode you are likely getting a VR capable wrapper on there, but not the same from your computer.
Thanks for the reply. I found some Facebook 3D photo groups and I see the same issue there. I wonder if it is because my phones Samsung A13 5G (SM-A136U) and Samsung Galaxy S7 (SM-G930P) aren't supported by Facebook for posting 3D photos. I'm curious if the supported phones (https://www.facebook.com/help/android-app/352960005398344?paipv=0&eav=Afb2h29NrihldlrZbFyRJpJx37Q7ewzpNsXXLGZbfmRzJzSXhgPdYa9aZxQvKN5ghpI&_rdr) actually display the images properly. I don't have access to these. I'm interested in your AutoVRai project. Please send me an invite to the discord and I'll hop on there so we can communicate directly. There are a few of these images in a public group. Interesting, I got three different results on my Pixel 5a from the app, chrome, and chrome incognito.
