I think it would, yes. The user wanted a sandbox install method because of wine. (I can't blame him ) But this request was opened specifically for docker. I think...
And since docker also uses Alpine most often, we'd also have to test our Alpine stuff more tightly, I would presume.
Given the above, I am closing this request as complete through snap and flatpak.
