Major battery drain in 5.8.20

Open TheShanMan opened this issue 1 year ago • 5 comments

After upgrading from 5.8.0 my phone started experiencing massive battery drain, and android blames it on this app. If I kill the app, the drain stops. Android 12, LineageOS 19.1, microg, moto g7.

@thuryn is this fixed in 5.8.21? 5.8.0 has been so stable for me that I don't want to upgrade until I see this has been addressed. :)

I havn't fixed anything regarding power consuption. I havn't faced any problems with this. You can send me logs from the app (Debug options in the app menu).

@thuryn I installed the latest, 5.8.21, turned on logging, observed major battery drain over the course of around 8 hours, but the file doesn't exist where it says it should. I checked file permissions and I'm only able to give the app media access, not full file access, according to the android permissions screen for the app. Seems like the app doesn't specify desired permissions correctly because other apps like my file browsing app are allowed full file access. Mentioned OS/phone info in 1st comment in case that helps.

You've right, I've check it on emulator and it does not work. Try it with 5.8.22 version, please.

@thuryn I installed 5.8.22 today and turned on "log to file" but still the file doesn't exist. The android settings "battery usage" screen shows significant "media storage" usage so I think it's doing something with logging but the file just isn't in the root of my internal disk as the app indicates. And FWIW the app's permissions still say "access to media only", not general file access.
