HTML Signatures
🎯The objective
Give users a way to set HTML signatures, so they can write more professional emails from Thunderbird for Android
🎒Resources
ℹ️ List all relevant resources like BugZilla meta bugs, Figma files, Notion program and other files.
🦮Rules of the Road
ℹ️ Initial definition of requirements and limitations, the scope of this feature and other potential considerations in order to keep the project narrow and focused.
🟢In Scope
- Allow users to input signatures as HTML tags
- Send signatures with outgoing email
- Stretch: Import signature HTML from file
🔴Out of Scope
- Full visual editor for editing signatures
- Attaching vCards as signatures (though we may consider this in the design for community contribution)
Engineering Tasks
Cross-Functional Tasks
🎨Design
- Review Suggested layout changes (we don’t need to do a full design run for this project as it is likely just a checkbox to interpret the input as HTML)
⁉️QA
- Test sending various types of HTML signatures to ensure it doesn’t break email sending
🤝Support - Product
- SUMO: How to create a visually appealing signature
Could be great if you could add support for vCard, like set some vCard in Settings, and there could be option to include vCard when sending messages :)
Great idea, though not in scope for this epic. We can consider this for the designs though, in case someone from the community wants to implement it.
One of the greatest features I can think of when thinking about an email phone app. Subscribed and will look into it once I have more time available.
Can not wait for this feature, it's the only thing the Android app is lacking!
This is exactly, what I am missing right now...
Looking forward to this above all else. Android phones having a html signature usable for business? Finally!
Using em client temporarily until this is possible.
Fun fact: Google's Gmail app allows html signatures for iPhones. Google's Gmail app doesn't not allow html signatures for their own Android operating system.
Infuriating.
That's wrong, you can have the primary (default) webmail signature of a google gmail account (personal and pro) on android gmail, you have to set your mobile signature to empty and you will be good to go.
Can't wait!
