Gmail automatic folders are not detected early enough
When setting up a gmail account, I sometimes get into the situation where the folders have not been detected yet. Each says Automatic (None). When I used K-9 Mail for the first time, this made me think something was broken and I needed to manually select the folders, which in turn did not make it use the automatic folders it should be.
If we can delay showing this screen until folders are detected, I think this would improve the experience.
We do retrieve the folder list before showing this screen. If you can reproduce this, please record a debug log and attach it here.
I've found out what the issue is here. It appears that my accounts have the "Show in IMAP" checkbox disabled for some of the system labels such as Sent/Drafts/etc. I've enabled these and now TfA detects the folders correctly. I have an awkward combination of other "Sent" folders that probably IMAP clients created in lieu of the real sent folder missing.
We can't magically fix Gmail, but we could warn that no folders are configured at this stage and that some things might not work.
For Gmail we should probably also have a SUMO article.
