The contents of the Spam folder are not included in the Unified Inbox by default. You should be able to confirm this by looking at Manage folders → [Name of Spam folder] → Unify. The checkbox should be unchecked.

Are you sure it's not just a spam message that made it into your inbox?

The 'combine' boxes of all folders are unchecked except for the 'inbox' folders. While on the computer on Thunderbird the spam, once selected as spam, goes directly to the spam box, this does not happen here.

Please be more specific about what the actual problem is. Are you receiving an unwanted message, mark it as spam from the Unified Inbox, and it doesn't disappear from the Unified Inbox?

If so, make sure Settings → [Account] → Folders → Spam folder points to the spam folder and not the inbox.

I have 'Free' account pointing to 'SPAM' and Gmail account pointing to 'Automatic(Spam)'. When I open K9 on 'combined mail' all the incoming emails appear, even those that I had already marked as 'Spam'.

  1. How did you mark the unwanted messages as spam? Inside K-9 Mail? Using a different client?
  2. If you open an unwanted message from the Unified Inbox and tap the message header, the bottom will show the folder name the message resides in. Does it say "Inbox"? Or does it say "Spam"?

I have marked spam from both K9 and thunderbird on the computer. For example, when opening K9 I found two emails in spam and another four in my inbox. Instead I opened Thunderbird on the computer all the emails in the spam folder. Then I opened K9 again and all the spam mails are in the spam folder as it has synced.

That sounds like Thunderbird is moving some messages to the Spam folder after it downloaded them. Obviously those changes are only visible to K-9 Mail after they have been synced to the server by Thunderbird and then from the server to K-9 Mail.

This sounds like expected behavior, not a bug.

I have the same Problem and it seems a bug. I have 2 Accounts on the same Email-Provider. In one account only the messages of the inbox-folder are displayed in k9-mail same as on my linux system with sylpheed. On the other account the inbox and spam folder of the provider are display. At both i set on k9-mail only main folder should be displayed. I use on both IMAP. So ist seems on one account only the main-folder is displayed and the other account main and spam folder are displayed in the combined input box.
