Mark as unread while polling emails does not work

Steps to reproduce
- trigger polling emails
- have so many folders to poll and a not quick connection
- browse an email that is unread
- it marks it as read
- so you mark it back as unread to get back to it later
- go back to the folder and notice it is not unread
- the polling stops, unread is still not marked and got lost
Expected behavior
Please mark as unread when I click it regardless of the mail polling status
Actual behavior
Unread status is lost while emails are polling

@wmontwe could you please mark it as confirmed, this bug is a pain since years
Based on my understanding of our architecture I can understand why this might be happening. Unfortunately it isn't an easy fix. We'll be reviewing this as part of #8834 which should hopefully fix a whole slew of synchronization issues like this one. I'm going to mark this as a duplicate of that one, when we do the detail planning for 8834 we'll be reviewing the duplicates to make sure we've covered all the use cases.
