Import one or more mbox files with its/their subdirectory only works the first time (once)
Thunderbird 78.8.1 (64-bit) Ubuntu 18.04.5, kernel 5.4.0-67 ImportExportTools NG version 10.0.4, last updated March 11, 2021
steps to duplicate:
- right click on Local Folders, choose ImportExportTools NG, Import mbox file, Import one or more mbox files with its/their subdirectory
- navigate to an mbox file that has a folder with matching name and .sbd extension next to it
- it works: the folder is created in Thunderbird with matching name and sub-folders containing messages
- delete imported folder, empty trash
- repeat exactly the same import
- doesn't work: only main folder is created with matching name but no sub-folders and no messages
if you exit and restart Thunderbird, import works again but only the first time
@rbrdvr thanks for the post, sorry for the confusion/issue your last post will be helpful to reproduce. sounds like a "sticky" state that does not get a cleared I will try to test. Christopher
in case this makes the difference, the mbox file and corresponding folder with sbd extensions were created using applembox2sbd.py from mbox exported by Apple Mail and contain multiple levels of sub-folders.
thank you for all the hard work you put into this project.
Hello, Trying to import a directory containg multiple levels of subdirectories, I "converted" the files into *.sdb with the help of applembox2sdb.py. By the way, I had to remove the \r before the script runned. I have a "variant of the above case, probably: I cannot select the top directory, but only select and go into the structure and open the nex level untill I arrive to "message".
Probably, I do make a mistake in the opertation?
Many thanks for your efforts Claude

@kubuntu-newbie you saved my day. I have the same bug, but I thought this Import functionality didn't work at all. Now you made me realize it works the first time after a Thunderbird reboot (much better than nothing!).
So, I was able to reproduce this issue still in ImportExportTools NG version 12.0.2, exactly two years after the last message in this conversation.
EDIT: In my case, the Export was done with ImportExportTools NG itself, same version and same computer.
@clausanne @KarmaProd @kubuntu-newbie My apologies, I think this got buried when I had to take time off for health issues. I am gearing up for a big 115 effort and trying to address some of these outstanding issues. @cleidigh
