Just FYI, this is something we've had to tweak a lot due to the default implementation of our image viewer not having all these nice features that you might expect. Maybe @CTalvio can chime in on this, but yeah our image viewer is a constant work in progress to get it feeling just right.
I don't think the swipe distance is configurable...
But I've twisted that damn image library to do what I want before, and I actually agree the swipe distance for dismiss could be shorter, so it might be worth looking into.
