Python debugger doesn't stop a breakpoints

Issue Type: Performance Issue

My first python script. Created a python environment using Anaconda Navigator 3 python version 3.8.5. Launched VS code from Anaconda Navigator. Opened a new workspace that pointed to the python environment I created in step 1. created a new folder to hold my python project (Hello). Created a two line python program hello.py Set a breakpoint on the second line of the program file. Started debugging by pressing F5. Debugger opens, runs program, pauses briefly at the breakpoint and then finishes normally.
