Missing support for AMD sTRX4 platform!

Open Lu-Gru opened this issue 4 years ago • 8 comments

Hello, Does it support sTRX4 platform ? From initial tests, could be that I did something incorrectly, needs to dig into this more on live distro, drives are not detected.

Any info appreciated. Regards.

So I tested rcraid-dkms on Live Debian 10 and Ubuntu 18.04. Was using appropriate packages (on debian src compile + install dkms for Ubuntu with same kernel version).

In all cases driver did either crashed or didn't detect anything.

AFAIK AMD won't move a finger to support Linux (after hearing back from them) so yeah this is great news after spending 1.400 USD on theirs CPU and another 800 USD on mobo that support it ...

I'm sorry for that. Can call myself lucky while choosing my X470 board I guess. Hope AMD will do something sooner or later. I think you and other people should keep pressing on this issue.

I mean logically: If you don't create attention, nobody (at AMD) will put any priority and therefore no efforts into this. As I'm mentally on your side, I keep this issue open.

Looks for other people owning this hardware and keep asking for support (kindly!). If they don't react make it loud on the internet. They must hear you - even if you get an answer you don't like. They (AMD) must give a statement on this. That's a minimum of a (good) relation to the customer.

Is this Threadripper Pro? You might want to get in touch with @ducphuc

Threadripper Pro is WRX80. However, RC-v9.3.x adds support for both sTRX4 and WRX80 platforms. An added bonus is RAID5 is only supported for AMD Family 17h Models 31h sTRX4(and WRX80) processors.

The new sTRX4 chipset supports the following: • Ubuntu 20.04 • RHEL 8.2 • Debian 10.3

@ducphuc From where can I get that driver ? Was looking on AMD page and there is nothing there, or I missed it.

I have the same issue. How can I get RC-v9.3.x to support RAID on sTRX4? Thanks! @ducphuc

Get the driver from ... Lenovo :D.

Search for "lenovo p620 workstation" and get RHEL package that contains src that can be compiled against current kernel.

AMD support reply - Linux is not supported. After installing Lenovo RAID driver all HW works on sTRX4 platform on Debian 10 (on my end).

So yeah... great AMD customer care and support ... on HEDT platform that is one of most expensive ones. Disappointed with AMD.

You can also download it NVME RAID from Supermicro website https://www.supermicro.com/en/Aplus/system/5U/5014/AS-5014A-TT.cfm
