beacon crash

Unable to import from nitrado. crashes as soon as i find my server :/ only have 1 so it shouldn't be that stressful to pull @thommcgrath

No it shouldn't. What message are you getting? If it's the generic "Beacon had encountered an unrecoverable error" window, there is a long string of letters and numbers at the bottom left. Post the first few character - 6 is plenty - and I can look up more details. If I knew the solution, Beacon would tell you, but maybe we'll gain some clues from it.

I might also help if you email your Game.ini and GameUserSettings.ini files to [email protected] so I can try them in my debugger. You could post them here easily, but if you do, make sure you remove the passwords from GameUserSettings.ini first. The passwords are why I suggest emailing the files to me instead.

no error window, it just straight up crashes. have emailed you .ini codes👍

Does it just disappear? Is there a Windows "this application has stopped working" dialog? Figuring out what does happen will help.

For the record, I can't find anything wrong with the ini files you sent me.

thommcgrath avatar Mar 08 '19 21:03 thommcgrath

have emailed you a video showing the crash

Wow that is bizarre. But I see a couple things that might be a clue. In Beacon’s help menu there is an “Open Data Folder” option. The Events.log might shed a little light, though odds are it won’t help a ton. What I see in the video is a incorrect headers on the server list. Does your system use a dual AMD and Intel video combo? There is a rare and weird bug causing issues like this unless Beacon is explicitly assigned to the intel integrated graphics. Something to do with the AMD drivers in this specific combo.

If the events file doesn’t tell me anything and it’s not the AMD issue... I’m not sure where we go next. As you can see, there’s not a whole lot of information to work with here.

my pc is amd based. just dug out my intel laptop and server connected straight away 🙂 have sent the event file over so you can have a look. i think i can deal with doing my drops on a laptop, but if you want to use me as a guinea pig, feel free 😂

Events.log nvm, file is too big to email. ill just send it here

OgEnigma avatar Mar 09 '19 01:03 OgEnigma

Yeah, nothing useful in the events log.

Sorry about the bug. I'm hoping an update to my dev tool will allow me to make a version with a fix. But I can't reproduce the issue myself, so it's hard to know exactly.

ah well, fingers crossed you find a way. all the best
