Text is lacking enough contrast
This is a cool idea, but quite difficult to read some of the text, I know that part of the code is intended to be less easy to read to focus the user on writing the code, but even the main instructions are low contrast.
Can you post a screenshot of what you see, and your OS/browser? Looks ok on my end but would want to make it accessible for all platforms.
I much prefer the colors being used by Thomas than what Dan posted above. The fact that the css that isn't important to the level is in grey is a nice touch and allows you to focus on the property at hand. I don't think that Thomas is to blame for poor monitors / contrast settings.
@Braed @thomaspark I think @accessiblewebuk is referring to the contrast of the text of the other CSS items.
It is failing the contrast ratio test: http://leaverou.github.io/contrast-ratio/#%23aaa-on-%23ddd Some people want to know also what's going on in general, so the rest of the CSS properties should also be readable for everyone.
A solution could be that you provide a high contrast mode, for those who need it. It would definitely be a nice addition.
@donroyco it seems that the "Dan" i was referring to has since removed his comment. I know that he was referring to the grey css text, and i think it's good that way since it doesn't draw attention away from the text that you are typing. :)
since it doesn't draw attention away from the text that you are typing
But the way it does that is to be practically invisible; you really, really, truly cannot read the grey text on the grey background.
I don't think that Thomas is to blame for poor monitors / contrast settings.
The grey/grey may be fine for a bunch of 20something kids with great eyesight. They're really ineffective choices for a huge segment of the population though. It's not at all a question of monitor calibration.
