setting default behavior to never delete *.pdf files for any tex project

I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature request. I like to use latex:clean to not have a cluttered filesystem; however, I can't seem to do so without also deleting the pdf that I'm working on. The documentation suggest that I can do this by adding headers, but since I don't ever want to delete the pdf, it would be best to do in a global setting. I can't seem to find a way to do this.

if this feature exists, this is a request to make it somewhat clearer in the documentation. As of right now, I'm interpreting the documentation as saying that the root of the current latex file being compiled is what we use for the .yaml file.
