Suggestion: Ability to follow creep/tower

Open KittyTac opened this issue 5 years ago • 2 comments

You should be able to ctrl+click a creep or tower, in case of a creep, the camera starts tracking it, and in case of a tower, you get to see whatever it is pointing at through the barrel, maybe with a scope-like crosshair too.

Sounds like a followmode with the addition of a firstperson mode.

e.g. following a creep has two different modes

  • third person camera makes sure the creep is always visible, but how zoomed in should it be, what angle? is it automatic in some form of "cinema mode" or can you control/pivot the camera around the creep you follow?
  • first person You become the creep, seeing everything from the perspective of the creep

following a tower only has one mode

  • first person You become the tower, seeing everything from the perspective of the tower.
  • third person I don't feel like third person mode makes sense on a tower, locked on the tower rotating around it? locked on the last targeted creep/structure? pivoting around it? 🤷‍♀ i'm not sure

Feel free to discuss the idea/suggestion further :)

I think there are at least 2 possible modes, as in car racing simulators:

  1. with a standard angle and distance at wall level
  2. with an angle at which it is possible to see the room from one end to the other, and zoom so that the back of the unit fits to the bottom of the screen In both cases, the direction of the camera must coincide with the direction of view of the unit
  • first person You become the creep, seeing everything from the perspective of the creep

The units are not very tall, so the view will appear from the very ground, here either make the units higher or the camera and move the angle up a little.
