Compatibility with OCaml 5.3
The Fedora project is doing test builds of our OCaml packages with OCaml 5.3.0-beta2, so we can be ready for the final release of OCaml 5.3.0. We found that stdcompat needs a few array-related changes, contained in this pull request.
Is there any chance somebody could look at this and make a relase for 5.3?
Yes, working on it.
I think the change for the generated file Makefile.in is not required.
Hello,
Just to give some heads up, I am working on deeper changes, whihc explain why the new release is taking more time than I initially thought.
I do not dare to announce any date but at least I can say this is what I am currently working on.
Once I ran autoconf to regenerate configure this fix works for me (https://github.com/tmcgilchrist/stdcompat/commit/638dd3a930eb4f4809edeb1d700a40bdf2b80c49).
@shindere is it possible to just release this fix and then continue work on your deeper changes?
Would be nice to have this PR merged indeed ;-)
Sorry for my silence, I am aiming for a better solution which I expect to be available soon.
Thanks a lot @shindere :-)
So, this has finally been addressed.
Will start to work on support for 5.4, with the hope to release close to the release of the compiler, this time.
Many thanks to all for your patience, interest in the project, efforts and understanding.
For several months the project could not be maintained and thus accumulated a bit of technical debt. Not all of it has been reimbursed yet, but I hope the project has become sustainable enough for me to be able to follow the compiler releases more closely.
Thanks a lot @shindere . Don't worry! It's really nice to have someone maintaining this package again. Good luck and thanks again :-)
Thank you!
Thank you for the fix and prompt release to opam-repo @shindere
