Coming back from The End

After killing the Ender dragon i had 68 levels of XP, but after coming back to the Overworld i only had 25 and i had Soul Fray, which you get after dying, right ? but i didn't die and no i didn't enchant anything either.

EDIT: Okay this is weird, the death poppet (on the shelf) has disappeared, which means i did die, but i don't know how, killing the dragon was fairly easy, he never really touched me. And either way i got the 68 levels after he died. I did anger some endermen as i was leaving, did they somehow kill me while the credits were rolling ? Also i had 23 full hearts and full armor at the time, so i don't think they could kill me that easily and without me noticing.

Maybe coming back from the end triggered the poppet which is why i also think i lost those levels, i also had only 10 harts of the 23 full.
