Reset progress

Open Abdo101111 opened this issue 9 months ago • 13 comments

I erased my data using ioi to reset everything, when you do that and enter the game, the story missions are usually locked and you can not play a mission without completing the previous one and watch the cutscenes which play automatically as well as the briefings too, everything was good but when I installed peacock, it unlocked all missions, and I can play any mission without any order which is a little bit annoying as it doesn't feel genuine while playing, I removed peacock but unfortunately Missions continued to be unlocked which is annoying as I will have to wait 3 months to make another ioi reset.

Is there a way using peacock to reset progress to play the game as if it was my first time ever? Missions only unlocks when you progress with the story?

Thank you

Did you use options.ini or in-game options to disable mastery progression?

suanjiansalt avatar Mar 28 '25 09:03 suanjiansalt

No, I didn't read about that anywhere, there isn't any option for that in game as far as I am aware, is this options.ini in the peacock folder? If so, should I only disable this progression and that is it?

Thank you

"Disabling mastery progression" is to unlock all items (or accesses to missions) you're entitled to get at once, which is quite the opposite to your demand.

As for your "locked missions", I guess you mean something like spoiler warning? Maybe you can try deleting the userdata folder to generate a fresh profile, yet it's irreversible so really be cautious by backing up your data.

When you play the game for the first time or after a reset from ioi, if you haven't played any missions at all, and let us say you want to play the 2nd Mission after paris in hitman 1, it will till you you cannot play this Mission untill you complete the previous one, same for cutscenes, they will be greyed out and you cannot play them or choose them unless you complete the previous Missions and like that for the rest.

I tried deleting the userdate but still all missions are unlocked, the things is, I had them locked as I resetted the account from the ioi website, but after installing peacock, it unlocked all missions, and deleting it did not reverse it back

Another thing for the reset is that it is supposed to take you right away to the training missions and first cutscenes with the plan and diana, this is the first thing you get when entering the game after a complete reset, maybe peacock doesn't have this type of reset in it?

Try deleting this folder:

<Steam-folder>\userdata\<user-id>\1659040\remote\

Game may be storing this info offline rather than in the server (or storing in both places)

If you're on Epic the folder is:

%APPDATA%\IO Interactive\Epic\<user-id>\HITMAN3

did not work, I tried and deleted everything, it resets numbers and mistery and asks to agree for the terms but still, all missions and cutscenes are unlocked and after the screen of the terms or whatever, it should go directly to the first cutscene and then the first training mission, but it just goes the the normal menu.. it does reset everything except for the story progress and missions, which is, for me, what it is all about.

nonetheless I am thankful for all the help.. maybe in the future peacock may be able to do that, thank you for the hard work my friends!

The issue is that our default user data isn't a new user, it's a 100% user. We should probably fix that

Thank you for the kind response, that would be really really great and awesome!!

I eagerly looking forward to it my friend!

This'd better be an option too, like if you rudely delete the file you get a 100% user (most people just want a quick restart), but if via a specific ingame entry you start a fresh user.

That would be great yes, the potential in this project is really something else, I keep thinking of how many options maybe in the future can be implemented, for example, an option to only unlock all suits and nothing else, the same for other stuff too, an option to reset and start as new user and experience the game as in your first time, but still have the progress you made on previous runs in terms of mastery? That would be difficult or weird I believe, but it is coming from me so, yeah sorry for that.. I hope if in the future I have the time to try to learn stuff and try to contribute in any possible way, this is such a kind and great team, and I only play max payne and hitman so I appreciate the great work.

Splendid 47s.

+1 for me. I am still waiting for this feature which Abdo101111 said on 28 March. Unlocking missions like in vanilla will be great.

To be clear, the game doesn't lock story missions based on progression. Instead, trying to access later content shows a "Spoiler Alert" that lets the player easily bypass it. I think this would make sense as an option in options.ini. Maybe next to enableMasteryProgression, you could have enableStoryProgression?
