More tests

Following the recent changes, we should write more unit tests to cover more scenarios. Some ideas:

  • [ ] Snapshot testing against menu routes
  • [ ] Tests against commonly used apis in the codebase
  • [ ] Create plugins that can be automatically tested to avoid API consumer regressions

Open to suggestions on more.
