Double cursor when typing code

While typing some code, there seems to be two cursors that get further apart as you go down the line. Here's an image with a markup of what I mean. The actual cursor is at the end of the line. It can sometimes hinder coding because I can never be 100% sure I'm getting the actual cursor in the right spot and I wind up deleting the wrong character or placing one in the wrong spot.
