[Request] Open popup by clicking on system tray icon
In the current version on Windows, click on system tray icon does nothing. It would be great if it opened the popup and processed current text selection, acting as if user triggered the keyboard shortcut.
Hi! Real quick — do you not see the "About", "Settings", and "Quit" options when ~~left~~ right clicking on the tray icon?
Nope, I see those only when right clicking on the tray icon
Right! My bad, I meant to ask about the right click. I was worried the options didn't show for you since you said "In the current version on Windows, click on system tray icon does nothing." haha.
With that out of the way, would this option really be advantageous? It's a whole lot of mouse movement to select text and move the cursor all the way to the bottom right.
The only use-case i can see for this is touchscreen devices being able to trigger Writing Tools, but it comes with the con of hiding the right click options - people may think the icon is just to trigger it and may not find the Settings menu.

Sorry, I should have clarified that I meant the left mouse click 🙏
would this option really be advantageous
Sure! I often end up in situations when it's not convenient for me to hit keyboard hotkeys — for example, when I drink tea and my left hand is holding the cup, I operate computer with only the mouse. It would be really handy to still be able to use Writing Tools — and it won't come with any disadvantages, as left click on the tray icon currently does nothing anyway.
I’ll look into this - thank you for sharing your thoughts and idea!
