I just fiddled around with `detect columns -n` & `split column`. Indeed. It is very confusing. Had to try out both commands thoroughly to get how they actually are working....

Can you temporarily move the entire config folder and generate a new one? Alternatively, you could create a temporary Linux user and try with a clean configuration environment.
