Wraith can absolutely cheese turrets, completely invalidating them

Open chizzy376 opened this issue 1 year ago • 9 comments

Description

By banishing a turret and blinking on top of its ghost before un-banishing it, the wraith can freely slash the turret as the turret can't target its own tile, completely invalidating the 400 req point object made to defend places. The fob you put sentries on? Now defenseless unless you put 2 sentries next to each other on every chokepoint, impossible at roundstart.

Server-Side Code Modifications: https://tgstation13.org/parsed-logs/sybil/server_side_modifications.dm

Round ID: 22113 BYOND Version: 515.1608 Server revision compiled on: Master commit: 67e85dd446028cd8044fc2961a5afd7a14deaff6 The following pull requests are currently test merged: #13123: 'Shrike primo rework - Psychic Vortex' by Scarlet-Oduko at commit 50e2038c96

Local commit: 2fe5ab10ea1bf42a4be1cd91e806cf50f54b0d4a Server tools version: 5.12.7

Reproduction Steps

  1. Place sentry down, put it in radial if you want (doesn't matter)
  2. As a wraith, banish the sentry
  3. Walk/blink on the same tile
  4. Unbanish sentry
  5. Now you can't get shot by it and you can freely slash it

This is moreso a oversight, but all this means is that you need to leave someone to guard FOB, a problem similar to a spitter or a sentinel spitting the cades and turrets down

There's a reason bravo stopped being the "fob" squad. People really don't play tgmc to afk in a box for upwards of 2 hours. Sentries exist for that. Completely invalidating them with an exploit is not okay.

As I just said earlier, spitter castes can do the same but better, outranging turrets on 360 or simply peeking out of cover and spitting without any risk if there are no marines guarding it The main difference is it takes a bit longer for them and or they have to apply corrosive acid on the cades

A single turret isn't supposed to permanently defend your FOB anyway, a single sentinel can kill a turret even easier.

A single turret isn't supposed to permanently defend your FOB anyway, a single sentinel can kill a turret even easier.

In that case that's an actually fair way to take down a sentry. Glitching yourself on top of it to not be targeted isn't.

Because actively running into FOB and using two abilites is much safer then shooting it from outside FOB, as we all know.,

What even is your argument? We really don't need your obvious sarcasm here. Please take a breather, it will help us both in the long run.

Unless the sentry is on radial, the wraith could you know, just walk behind it. If it IS on radial, than spit castes can shoot it from outside range.
