Significant motion sensor breaks syncing

AWARE sync will not run to completion if the significant motion sensor is turned on. Turning the sensor off appears to be the only way to fix the problem.

App version: 1.8.6 (56)

Present on both iOS 12 and 13.

Overall severity: Critical problem - 5 out of 5 where 5 is worse.

This problem seems to be fixed as syncing is now working normally but there is a new related issue. SM seems to have no effect on the latest build, accelerometer data is collected at all times despite SM being enabled.
