CarType reports wrong model

We're receiving numerous reports of vehicles reporting incorrect or invalid CarType values.

Examples:

  • 2019 Model S Raven Long Range reports CarType: Model3
  • 2022 Model Y reports CarType: Model3
  • 2024 Model 3 reports CarType: ModelY
  • 2025 CyberTruck reports CarType: Unknown

I see this problem as well. A model Y reports as ModelS

Huh, I just noticed my 2022 Model 3 is also reporting as "CarType": "CarTypeModelY". I've got to assume this is an off by one issue with the protobuf.
