What about new release on F-Droid
So much new features has been merged. Last version was released at Dec 2021. When we can expect new version released on F-Droid?
simply use the github provided builds e.g.: #589
@sp4rkie To do that we need to backup existing fdroid termux and install github termux: A huge endeavor to those who have limited storage and lots of used space(packages) inside termux.
Also, the last fdroid update is >15 months ago. I believe, at least some of the features are ready to be pushed to release.
we would rather recommend to make backups for desaster recovery anyway.
So migration from f-droid -> github is a good exercise to be prepared for the emergency case :-)
Backups are fine: Config files and other important user data backups are necessary. But, backups of binaries, packages, distros that are readily available, and which are regularly updated - take up majority of storage. Those are the problem. With full size around hundred GB, It's not a easy endeavor that gives returns, corresponding to the work done.
Furthermore, some of us prefer fdroid, for easy updates and notifications.
@Blocked what do you have on 100GB I'm curious. Currently I have around 24 GB. I used to have 33GB taken up by termux.

@agnostic-apollo , I expect the Android 14 release has added a bunch of new items to your to-do list for this project. Is there anything I can do to help with crafting a new F-Droid release to sync up closer to the GitHub builds? (I'm particularly keen to restore the termux-api
functionality that worked until the December 2023 Android release; I saw the work that went into restoring that functionality and I'm keen to make it more easily accessible to everyone using the F-Droid packages!!)
@gnomon- Hi, thanks for the offer, most of the changes are local that I need to sort through myself, there are like 5 repos that need to be updated before a release can be made, but changes are dependent on my local changes, so don't think you can specifically help with this update. However, you can always test when I push my changes, that's really helpful to catch any issues I miss myself.
@agnostic-apollo ah, I understand. I'll keep an eye out for when it's time to test, then! Thanks again for this whole project - I can't even tell you how incredibly useful it is to me, not to mention how much fun I have with it. You're awesome.
Hey, thanks a lot for the kind words. Glad it makes your life better in some way. If I remember, I will ping you when I push.
