TDesktop stretches video-stories too much (sometimes)

Open ALiwoto opened this issue 1 month ago • 2 comments

Steps to reproduce

img1

in tdesktop, if a story with non-standard size is posted (e.g. a bit small), tdesktop stretches it a lot and that makes it look really bad (first photo)

but in unigram, if the video size is smaller than standard, it doesn't stretch it, instead it shows it properly (second photo)

Here is an example video:

Expected behaviour

the story viewer shouldn't stretch the video way too much and doesn't make it look way too bad (maybe something like Unigram).

Actual behaviour

the story viewer stretches the video way too much and the story will look bad.

This is a bit weird, stories are supposed to be the exactly correct size (or at least aspect ratio), all the official apps send the correct video stream for both video stories and live stories. Maybe server validation of the size / aspect ratio fails, idk, maybe its absent for some cases and should be added. but it was not supposed to receive arbitrary video sizes.

Yes, the server will actually reject the video if the aspect ratio is way too far off from the standard aspect ratio for stories, but apparently if the video aspect ratio is close enough to the standard aspect ratio, it won't complain
