[Feature Request] Flexible Notification Settings for Chat Folders

Is your feature request related to a problem?

Impossible to setup notification for all chats in a current folder

Describe the solution you'd like

Hello Telegram Team,

I’d like to suggest adding customizable notification settings for chat folders. For example:

  • Mute all chats in the "Work" folder during weekends or outside work hours

  • Enable sound alerts only for "Family" folder

  • Silent notifications for the "News" folder

  • Per-folder settings that override global notification preferences

This would greatly improve productivity and focus for users who organize their chats with folders and want better control over what grabs their attention.

Thanks for considering this!

Best regards,

Very useful enhancement! now i can only disable all notifications or enable all, so i miss everything or get spammed by everything. But a want to enable only notifications for needed folders, please do this!

What if one chat is in multiple folders, and the folders have conflicting notification rules?

This sounds like it's easy to get wrong, hard to get right, and doesn't quite fit the way the data for those settings is organized internally.

@Argentum4k, you can already choose both global settings per chat type (group vs. personal vs. channel), and also override those global settings for each individual chat/channel.

Personally, what I do is globally disable notifications for channels and groups (unless someone replies to or '@'s me specifically), globally enable notifications for personal 1-on-1 chats, and then individually enable notifications for specific individual groups that I want notifications in.

Edit: Forgot to mention, but I also set it so that in the message counters only count the number of chats with notifications, rather than the total number of notifications. This way I know how many separate chats need attention, rather than needing to look at Telegram to figure it out. If one group is particularly spammy, then it only increases the counter by 1 instead of the number of notifications from that one group.
