I think it has something to do with using the old and unmantained emojione that has been substituted with emoji-toolkit, but I couldn't find much of anything while looking at the source code, so I don't know if it is tied to that. (emojione doesn't have 😵‍💫, emoji-toolkit does).

Not sure how emojione is relevant here in your opinion given that tdesktop uses apple emojis. The codes are in this json file if I'm not mistaken.

It was just speculation because the ReadMe includes emojione alphacodes.

It’s really frustrating that right now a lot of emojis now have no shortcodes. I can’t search for them and need to open the emoji list and arduously look for them, not even remembering in which group they belonged. Moreover, for gendered emojis shortcodes helped me to be sure which one I pick because they’re quite small to see the details. Which is more than okay in cases when there is a tooltip.

I guess many other users are not very fine with this bug either but either don’t have any clue where to make a presence about it or even that they can, so I hope this post counts tenfold in deciding this issue’s fixing priority. 🙏

I came into possession of knowledge (means: I saw a friend's screenshots with my own eyes) the Linux desktop version has both emoji hints and completions (e. g. for a mammoth, which doesn't have either on mine). This means a fix for the Windows version might be just a step away! Maybe something's building the wrong way dependent on the platform, for example?

EDIT: now just mammoth of course. There were checks that pretty much everything has a hint in the list. (I won't ask to check meticulously every emoji that was a recent addition, but it'd be weird if many of them had hints and others had none.)
