Hyperlinking formatted text removes formatting

Steps to reproduce

1. Type some text, e.g.: "Hello, please see this."
2. Select the word "this".
3. Hit ctrl+K to hyperlink it.
4. Formatting goes away: "this".

Expected behaviour

I would expect it to be: "this"

Actual behaviour

Formatting goes away.
