Hide last sent message from contact list
Missing this from Skype, and would be handy when having the app open while people are watching.
Skype shows a user's status where Telegram shows the last message. There is already an option to disable this for desktop notifications, but I hope to have a setting implemented so I can turn off the last message preview completely for office privacy.

Yes, please add this! https://github.com/telegramdesktop/tdesktop/issues/678
Also waiting for this feature.
Some use-cases. When you use telegram at the office for business conversations, you don't want that your coworkers can see you private dialogs when you show/demonstrate something in business conversations. Or you share the screen to business partners and you need to copy link from some business chat, but you can't do it, because if you open telegram all last messages from private dialogs will be shared.
This is what i was trying to suggest when i opened my ticket in April 2017 https://github.com/telegramdesktop/tdesktop/issues/678, but still no progress in this matter..
Just installed Telegram Desktop, and I am also bothered by absence of such a basic privacy feature. However, for everyone interested, I'd like to point out that there IS a simple workaround: just edit your theme and change colors starting with "dialogsTextFg" to make last sent/received message text the same color as its background for all cases (normal, active, mouse-over). Problem solved!
dialogsTextFg: windowBg; // chat list message text dialogsTextFgOver: dialogsBgOver; // chat list message text with mouse over
That workaround actually makes some dialogs hardly usable

Also emoji are visible anyway.
Hey there!

Don't worry though; if this is an error, let us know with a comment and we'll be happy to reopen the issue.
Thanks!
Feature still not there..
Please implement such a basic UI privacy feature. The fix is not really SO hard: if (option) displayStr = "";

+1, this is not good for privacy. Some of us work remotely and use a time tracker software takes screenshots.

I concur; this is especially troublesome since if an image was last sent, it shows that image.
it's absolute nonsense to not have the feature like this
