Tested again after a while, while making sure I did not have the Tuya app running, and also not logged into the tuya developer site. The gateway is added successfully....
Also tried with v3.3 protocol and obtain the same error.

If it's an rssi based squelch, it shouldn't be too challenging to "port it" to AM/SSB as well (albeit for SSB such a squelch is only so much useful..).
