Xdg-open does not work when Polo is the default file manager

When Polo is the default file manager and I try to do xdg-open some_path, it produces an error. There is a GTK dialog window with "Failed to execute default File Manager. Input/output error". And in the console it gives: E: File not found: file:///home/denis/Desktop (if the path given was "~/Desktop", but all other paths give this error too).

With all other file managers that I tried setting as the default FM it works (opens the path in the FM).
