attachments saving

Hello there, i'm new in imap thing and i really don't get it how i can save attashments or post download links. Before i've used another script and had in result $message->getAttachments() the binary of the file and save them after on host. The load was really slow on big files but it worked that way, so i'm an little confused how i can download them or post links to them. Can anyone please hint me how it works? Thank you
