Get tikzexternalise working

Currently aware of two issues:

1. (suspicion) root file names with spaces
2. chemfig

Current issue mitigation attempts:

• using only named=true — resolves issue 2 but non-ideal
• using https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/245015/precompile-molecules-for-faster-compilation/245106#245106 — had issues, was not able to resolve issue 2 for me
