Sample Rate changes pitch/speed of audiosamples

When having something play back from my filestream and changing the sample rate, the speed (and therefore pitch) gets higher with increasing sample rate. This happens both with Asio4all and with the asio driver from my Maya44usb external card. Kind of odd? :)
