Change term - verbatimIdentification
Term change
- Submitter: Quentin Groom
- Efficacy Justification (why is this change necessary?): The Zoological Code of Nomenclature does not rule on the format of hybrid names, but the Code for algae, fungi and plants is quite specific that the multiplication sign
×should be used. Only in the unusual case that it is not available can one use the lower casex. Therefore in the interests of harmonization of hybrid names I would not use the capitalXin the examples, even though it is an animal hybrid. I also think some plant hybrid names as examples would be useful, because plant hybrid names and formula are much more common. - Demand Justification (if the change is semantic in nature, name at least two organizations that independently need this term): We have estimated that there are about as many hybrid plant taxa as there are species in the largest plant family (Asteraceae)
- Stability Justification (what concerns are there that this might affect existing implementations?): This change is aimed at improving stability and interoperability
- Implications for dwciri: namespace (does this change affect a dwciri term version)?: none
