Add ability to search in "Conversations" and in chat tabs

I've been using hangups for the past few months and really like it.

I find that the most important missing feature is being able to search, especially in the "Conversations" tab. I use hangups with an enterprise google apps account, and have hundreds of Conversations in the "Conversations" tab (at least the last 50 are relevant and need to be used daily).

It's quite tedious to have to search with my eyes the proper row and then scroll down to it, when trying to efficiently send a message. I would love being able to search by typing something like: /searchstring + [enter] Which would then put my cursor on the first match, and then typing n would go the the next match (vim like bindings).

Being able to search within the chat tabs would be very useful too.
