Consolidate messages from same person?

Open sid-kap opened this issue 9 years ago • 3 comments

This suggestion will probably be controversial, but here goes...

I kind of like Web Hangouts's feature where it groups multiple messages sent from the same person into one block, instead of writing the timestamp and name next to every message.

I also like Web Hangouts's feature where it shows the relative time of a message (20 minutes ago, etc) instead of absolute time.

Would it be a good idea to have an option to turn some of these features on?

+1 for grouping messages from same person. Not sure about relative time. I like more the absolute one

I would also like a feature that allows grouping messages from the same person. I think that there should also be a manual way to do it. This way instead of just being for grouping messages from the same person it could be doubled for being used to group messages from the same group. Come to think of it nested would be nice too.

ie. Work --Bob --Bill --Joe --Annoying guy in cube next to me that always sends all the stupid pictures of his dog/kids/.... School --Teachers ----Math ----Science Family --Mom --Dad --Family to ignore ----Annoying cousin/aunt/uncle... ----Annoying person who is always at family reunions but no one knows how he is related.

Edit: actually looking at my comment now this may be a whole other feature in some part. Let me know what you think.

Yeah, what you're suggesting sounds like a different feature. You might want to make a separate issue for your suggestion.
