Is there something special behavior that you want to see here @baszalmstra or is it just mapping the `.dist-info` metadata as best as you can to a `PrefixRecord`?
@travishathaway I'd be happy to assist in any way I can, I have some experience with conda and PyPI interop luckily :)
I suggest we keep this open for a while to see how others feel about it :) As it would be a breaking change.

@dhirschfeld ah that's unfortunate :(. Would dependency groups make sense for your use case? https://packaging.python.org/en/latest/specifications/dependency-groups/
