@tczekajlo would you take any of this? I can split it into different PRs too. But essentially, this fixes #58 as well.

I re-discovered one more bug, that I didn't fix yet.

When I reference a port by name (in a probe), it's cast to 0 — then no checks work either. I'll see if I can resolve that too in this PR.
