Question: Modularise features

Open tcf-admin opened this issue 3 years ago • 4 comments

Question
Should we modularise the feature in a way that they together and separate function?

Example: I want to use only PolitiCal from forDem and only that. I don't want to have the chat or survey functionalities at all.

Associated Issues, Modules, etc.

Kind of depends on the architecture of the platform. If we will have a centralized platform, I would say no, but if we had the possibility to run multiple instances of the platform decentralized like Mastodon, it would totally make sense to activate/deactivate modules on demand.

Could you please elaborate what role a decentralised architecture would play in such selective usage of the platform?

  • we have the decentralise approach btw.

just some communities who run the software don't need one or the other module, so they can just deactivate it

I think it is a user decision, rather than the community decision. That said, I like the idea of community-wide feature-lists.
