Add Notes when recording attendance
Is it possible to have a notes field added to a week to record names of people who visit church for the week. Often people visit and do not want to be included in the church data base (particularly when they are visiting or investigating a church), but it would be nice to be able to record names of people who have attended for follow up through the week or for next service when they (hopefully) visit again.
Do you have a visitors book?
It's probably a simpler and more readily accessible form than on computer.
Thanks for the response Tim,
We don’t have a visitors book. At the moment it is only me using the database, and I am keeping the information separately. I thought it would be nice if it was able to be keep with the database and I can record the information as I am marking attendance.
I am also wanting to be able to expand this to other key people at church recording attendance, which would then provide as space for them to feed back an visitors or people checking out the church (or even enquiring about the church).
It isn’t something that is urgent or that we can’t have ways around, it was just a convenience for my work flow (and to be honest, I am not sure what is required for it to be added and if it is a feature others would appreciate – ie functionality vs effort to make it happen).
Thanks for all your support
Glen

How about a 'Notes' textarea that keeps its content every week? I.e. one record per congregation, not per week.
For notes like "Sally invited her friend Deb - may come next week too" - to help welcomers/attendance markers remember newcomers from week to week.
That could work

The thing is: Once you've recorded "Sally's friend Deb" in the notes field, you have "added Deb to the database"!
People currently tend to handle this kind of scenario by adding "Deb Unknown" as a person record, with status "contact" or "visitor" or whatever, marked present. Then, later, when Deb comes again, supplies her surname, contact details etc, those can be added to the existing record. There is a proper record of Deb being present on the original date.
